Research & Development

Research support that helps teams frame questions, review existing material, and report what the evidence shows.

Who this is for

Teams that need to frame a question, review material they already have, and report what the evidence shows. This includes organizations preparing a study, a literature or desk review, or a findings note for a decision.

What this can include

  • Desk research and literature reviews
  • Research planning and design support
  • Findings, analysis, and reporting

How an assignment starts

We start from the decision the research must inform. The scope then names the question, the sources, the method that fits those sources, and the form of the report. Collecting more material than the decision needs is left outside the assignment.

Questions

What kinds of research can this cover?

Desk research, help with research design, and reporting of findings. A survey, interviews, or data analysis can be added only when the question requires them and they are written into the scope.

Will the report tell us what to do?

The report says what was asked, how the evidence was gathered, what it shows, and what it does not show. Options can be included. The organization still makes the decision.

How is this different from market research?

Research and development support starts from a question the organization needs to answer. Market research is the narrower look at markets, audiences, and competitors. The two can be scoped together when both are needed.
